The Born This Way Ball - Seoul

I'm such a negligent little monster! I was wrapped up with my procrastination, that I missed the calling of Mama Monster!

2/27/12 At 12pm Korean Time, tickets went on sale for the Born This Way Ball, and I missed out!!! So now I'm stuck in the B section, 3rd floor Side 10. in Row 16. seats 9-10 .... well I'm not that sad ...my tickets were 55,000Won a piece.

Yes I bought two tickets, one for my husband and one for me. If he doesn't get to attend than perhaps one of my lovely friends will join me... I am somewhat hurt that I wasn't able to buy standing, which would potentially provide me with access to the Monster Pit!! But than again those tickets are 125,000 Won. lol

Snubbed and Meryl and Eyerolls and Crystal closes out Black History Month

The 2012 Oscars have come to a end. THANK YOU!

I didn't watch as I'm feeling a third-party Snub, for Noomi Rapace. Noomi IS the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. My husband and I randomly watched the first of 'Millennium Trilogy' of Swedish crime thrillers and we could not get enough! Imagine our surprise, and my complete outrage at America snubbing GWDT for all awards/nominations .. and than having the nerve to recast and remake the entire film. Granted the last two Swedish films weren't as magnetic as the first (I mean c'mon such graphic intensity) ... but AGGGGHHH ... if you're gonna remake the film, why not cast with the same lead.

siighh. American Pomposity.

I'm glad the American GWDT only won for film editing at the 2012 Oscars. It's the bad karma they deserve for their selfishness.

............

On the other hand... finally Meryl has won another Oscar. She is Awesome!

I would list the ironies of characters played that black actors/actresses to win an Oscar. But I'm still in shock that "It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp" won an Oscar. smdh
... yay

But let's focus on Billy Crystals pathetic attempts for laughter. Blackface for the Oscars??!! Ugh ... in 2012 can we do better. Lets work on our craft and not go for the cheap tricks.... what a way to end Black History Month ... smh

3 Thanksgivings

Hey Friends

While I don't celebrate the commercial aspects of Thanksgiving, nor do I turn a blind eye to the historic happenings of the "holiday"... I do want to say what I am thankful for.

Traveling. That's the basis for this blog. To document my adventures, post memorable videos, and unforgettable pictures. I officialy became a Gypsy in the year 2009.

So let's recap:

Nov 24, 2009: I spent Thanksgiving touring Italy, with fellow intern/friend Linda. There we visted an acquaitance in Milan (who let us crash on her floor), the next day we met up with Linda's cousin in Venice, where we spent the night at a hotel located near The Grand Canal. The next day we day-tripped to Verona, to follow the footsteps of Romeo and Juliet. It was there that I laid my hand upon Juliet's breast and wished for Luck in Love.

Nov 24, 2010: I spent Thanksgiving touring Barcelona, by myself. After missing my first plane, I was lucky enough to have left-over monies to buy a plane ticket, same day to BCN. There I experienced the wonders and beauty of the Famed city. I drank with natives, socialized with other Hostel guests, and wandered the streets by my lonesome. I didn't get a chance to dance the flamenco, but I did see the famous works of Güell, Gaudí, and Picasso. Now I can say with an educated statement. I am not a fan of Picasso. As I left the city of BCN, I again wished feverently that true love and not lust would find me.

Nov 24, 2011: I spent Thanksgiving in Jihaeng, South Korea; amongst co-workers, friends, and acquatiances. I got to dress up like a panda, see my friend Justin (who was visiting from Germany/Afghanistan loosen up), play Kings Cup (Ring of Fire), and have a really chill time! It was a wonderful time but I was missing someone special. MY newlywedded husband. Unfortunately, the love of my life had to work, and so it wasn't until later that night, that we spent time together. Unfortunately, we spent the majority of the time with yelling (i.e. me) and stoiac silences (i.e. husband). Our fight lasted about 1.5 hours, afterwards we made up. :)

The end of the Night. I had left already. But looks fun!

 Thanks Juliet! lol :)

2011 Korea Heritage Fashion Show

As you all know, I recently blogged about possibly attending the 2011 Korean Heritage Fashion Show. I did and it was Amazing! My first actual fashion show that didn't revolve around University life (models/production/budgets). I also posted about being VIP, and was excited about that. However once I got there I realized what VIP actually meant:

General admission is all standing, while seats by the runway are all, by the planners’ definition, VIP. So I'm super excited that one of my newly acquired Facebook friends, posted about the magazine Yahae! and it's generous offer to their readers; for VIP status. Because it was cold, I had on 5' stilettos (which I traded in for flats), and I had on shorts!

My unofficial pictures are posted on my facebook & Tumblr: Add me on facebook (sending the message Blogger), or follow me on Tumblr, for my personal photos. However these are some professional photos of the event, that I found through a google search.

Enjoy.

2011 Korea Heritage Fashion Show Traditional culture meets modernity and visitors find unique expression through the new works of top Korean designers.
